Four Tips to Stay Active This Yuletide Season

banner

Advance Merry Christmas everyone!

I’m pretty sure that everyone’s stoked for Holiday season.

Well, who wouldn’t? It’s a month-long celebration filled with parties, reunions, get-together – and of course, let’s not forget the insurmountable food and booze when these events are happening.

With all these mouth-watering dishes being served ( plus the cold weather), a lot of us might also have a hard time convincing ourselves to hit the gym and stick with our workout. But, just because it’s the holiday season doesn’t mean that we can totally ignore our fitness goals. It’s absolutely vital to still try to be active.

Enough of the petty excuses, here are four ideas on how to stay healthy during the holidays:

Keep Moving

Regardless of the season, it's crucial to keep moving. Try to avoid sitting for a prolonged period of time. Instead of just sitting comfortably watching movies with the family or eating at the table, try socializing by pacing around the house talking to people or play with the kids who are also attending your party at home.

Create A Fitness Plan

We, at Nordic Lifting, have always emphasized the importance of having a plan, and this yuletide season is not an exception. If you are having a hard time following your workout routine, then the best way to stick to your goals is by creating a plan. And when it comes to planning, consider your schedule and other deciding factors. For example, if you will be attending a party in the evening, then why not do your exercise early in the morning. Or if the weather is usually not ideal in the morning, then, do your exercise in the afternoon.

Be Extra Creative

There are a lot of factors why we usually skip our fitness routine during the Yuletide season. It could be the weather, the hectic schedule, or it could be that you're a little too tired from all the events that you've attended. But again, these are not enough excuses to forget our health.

Instead of hitting the gym (especially when it's just freezing outside), you can opt to exercise at home with the help of mobile fitness apps. To remain active, there are plenty of things that you can do like buying a quality pair of winter shoes so that you will be able to walk around comfortably.

Track Your Activity

Planning isn’t enough. You also need to track down your activities for you to know if you are making progress. It’s also one way of keeping watch of your weight. Additionally, it encourages you to be more active.

You can do this simply jotting down your workout routine or your weight and anything that you think can help you track your progress.

We hope you enjoy the rest of the holidays! Follow these tips we’ve mentioned above and you won’t have a problem staying fit during the holidays. Ho! Ho! Ho!
